πŸ—ž The Controversial Influence of Moisturizers on Skin Water Barrier

I agree that moisturizers do act as a barrier to protect our skin Bd I try to apply mine immediately after bathing or showering to help to keep in that moisture as much as possible. I have discovered 2 great natural ones coconut oil and hempseed oil which I have just started using for the last 5 days. I am loving the hempseed oil so much more than the coconut oil. I use it on my face and body and it helps clear up any irritations as well as maintaining moisture in my skin and I do like to apply a barrier cream ( aquaphor) on top on my feet and hand in the evenings and it is amazing. Yes to barrier creams I think! It makes your skin so much softer.

Awesome, it looks like hempseed oil is non-comedogenic while coconut oil can lead to breakouts. Nice switch!

Me too! I am going to have to get my daughter to experiment with it on her acne since I don’t ever get acne. That is the one thing I have never struggled with fortunately. I did the switch mainly due to the non comedogenic and the fact that it is absorbed into the skin much better also and no oily residue either it completely absorbs into the skin. I just a drop and that is plenty for the entire face as I rub it in my palms to warm it first and purchase cold compressed and organic only. It also is curing my lupus scalp lesions as well!

I never new this? Why do we all use them then? Crazy! We all need extra moisture I guess.

wow i never even heard about that word let alone knew what it could mean, i would maybe do a educated guess. John im impressed with all the wealth of knowledge people have but i need to remind my self that im new to so many areas, thats why im so grateful you picked me to join the forum :smile:

Interesting information. It’s a no-brainer for me, I would much rather deal with the effects of using a moisturizer than not.
When I was in college I spent the night with a friend that slathered lotion all over after bathing. I asked her about it because I had only applied lotion on certain areas and never before going to bed. I liked the feeling of just my clean, bare skin. She said she loved the feeling of lotion after bathing. Fast forward several years. I finally gave the slathering lotion on after a shower a shot. I loved it too!

It’s the best time to apply it, it really does help to lock in moisture.
